Honouring Ourselves

I know there has been a long gap in the readings I post, but I feel there is an important message in that itself. This is particularly for the feminine, but I’m sure the masculine can gain insight as well.

Time is a construct of man. The constant clock watching, setting alarms to start our day. Calendars with alerts so we don’t miss appointments. Bills to be paid at a certain time. Constant deadlines and, “I need to do this by X date and time!” Social media and the internet has most certainly compounded the issue with people expecting you to “show up” every day or respond instantly. No wonder everyone is exhausted and burnt out! Time also causes aggression.

I think the last time I did a collective reading was in January. I lost the desire to do them because I felt like I had to do it at least once a week, if not more. I did one YouTube reading, thinking I would go down that path, but I just have not had the mental energy or inclination to do another.

My oracle card, Tick Tock, has been jumping out every day for me for about 5 days in a row. Last week my watch stopped working for about 8 hours, and then just started going again. It’s been fine since. I was given a video to watch on time just the other day, so I think Spirit has been trying to tell me something. It then hit me! My soul been guiding me away from the construct of time. This then led to another realisation, as a feminine, as a woman, time is a cage.

The feminine is not a machine designed to fit in our patriarchal society. The feminine is not linear. She is like a river that is meant to flow, meandering and creating her own path, at her own rate of flow. She is still and moving. The Feminine is also like the moon, waxing and waning. The Feminine is a cyclical creature. Always has been and always will be. She is chaos and order. She is gentle and fierce. She is soft, but can have the quills of a porcupine. She is light and dark, yet she is loving and nurturing. She is creative energy, and all things are born through her and from her. She is the peacemaker, not the warmonger. She is everything and nothing.

The Feminine does not fit into the construct of man made time. We have our seasons, just as Mother Earth has her seasons. Our energy is meant to cycle with the moon. We have a period where we build up energy and are fully present like a waxing moon, and then a period where we start to fade away, withdraw, just like the waning moon. This is how we are meant to be, and this is why women in particular, become burnt out. As women we should be honouring ourselves and our cycles, and we should not be made to feel guilty for doing so.

Even as I write this, I realise that we have cycles within cycles. Obviously for me, disappearing from social media for a time has been my winter season, even though it was summer here in Australia! I needed to retreat not just for a few days but for a season. It was hard to do because I felt like I should be out there promoting myself, promoting my deck and anything else I would like to do, but that’s not how I am. I like to do things on my time, on my cycle and in my season.

I understand this is a difficult thing to do in the society we live in, particularly in the west. Nature, seasons even daytime and nighttime are disregarded. You can shop 24/7. Everything is open all the time. We have artificial lighting. Some people work at night. It is a constant state of doing that is causing more harm than good. However, you can begin by making small changes in your life that allow you to honour your nature as a cyclical being. You can start by following the cycle of the moon. When we have a dark moon, make time for yourself where you do nothing. Allow yourself to just be still. No reading, no devices. Just be in stillness without the need to be distracted by something. Use this time to go inward, only focusing on your breath, allowing thoughts to come and go. Don’t allow them to linger. Just “being” can be one of the hardest things to do, but the more you do it, the more peace and calm will come to you. Finding moments of peace is one of the most important things we can do at this time.

As Thich Nhat Hanh said, “If we want peace, we have to be peace.” And, the Dalai Lama said it would be women that save the world. If we start embracing who we are as Divine Feminines, honouring ourselves and our cycles, healing ourselves, and creating community and sisterhood, we can make a difference, but it starts with us. We truly have to be the change we wish to see. As we change, we can inspire others to change.

In ancient times, women were revered for their wisdom and spiritual insights. Their cycles were honoured by the whole tribe. I believe there is a call for these times to be restored. Our modern way of living does not support us in “being.” I encourage you today to start honouring yourself as the wonderful intuitive, magical divine feminine that you are. Honour your cycles and needs without feeling guilty. It’s how you are designed to be. You were created this way!

I just want to add a note here, this is nothing against the masculine. The masculine is equally as important as the feminine. It is the Yin and Yang of life, but it is time for healing of the feminine. Who in turn will help anchor in healing for the world.

With love,

Zera
